Jesse Langseth Performs Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes

Jesse had mixed reviews from the American Idol judges. She was told by Randy that this was the wrong choice of song, and that it didn't show her voice range. It was cool he says but it didn't show who she was. Kara said she liked certain moments, but noticed her struggle with range; although she liked Jesse's look. Paula like always really liked the "little red head girl", and thinks that she is totally unforgettable. Simon, like always, didn't like the song, and said it was "too cool for school".

I felt the song was okay, but it didn't impress me with vocal skills at this point in the competition. It was okay. What's your opinion??????

Background information about Ash Wednesday

Some of you might know and some not, but today the carneval season is over. Ash Wednesday is also the day of the first lent. Some people might also not know what the lent is. Well, the lent is the 40 day period before Easter in which Christians are supposed to fast and pray. During that time Jesus endured the temptation of Satan in the desert.

I am an Atheist and I have to admid that I did not know about the meaning of Ash Wednesday and Lent. But now I know and I hope I educated some of you that read this post.

Tell me, whether you are going to fast for 40 days now! I would be really interested in that.

Kate Winslet Wins for Best Actress 2009 Academy Awards

Kate was well overdue for this award. Her performances since The Titanic have been phenomenal. She kept her acceptance speech short and sweet. I really enjoyed it!!

Academy Awards 2009 Recap (Jennifer Aniston vs Angelina Jolie)

Fashion experts agreed that Aniston's metallic Valentino gown easily outshone Jolie's dreary black dress.
Aniston was there to co-present the best animation award with Jack Black and as the pair bantered on stage the television cameras panned to Jolie, perhaps hoping to see her glaring at the woman who recently described her as "really uncool". But Jolie laughed away at Aniston's jokes.

Jolie is a past master at not betraying her emotions on awards night - she also smiled gamely at the Golden Globes when Kate Winslet forgot her name and referred to her as "the other one".

The Tomb Raider actress was seated with her partner and Aniston's ex-husband, Brad Pitt. Friends actress Aniston attended the ceremony with her boyfriend, musician John Mayer.

The couples were seated only a few rows apart but didn't speak during the show. They also managed to avoid one another on the red carpet.

Is Phelps getting a second chance?

According to the president, Jacques Rogge, of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Michael Phelps is going to get his second chance.
He is not even accused of doping because the incedent happened outside of competition.
A sloppy warning is what Phelps gets: Don't do it again!

The only problem still is his duty as a role model and its nonfulfillment. And who can believe his promise not to do it again if we remember a few months after the Olympics in Athen 2004. Phelps has been arrested because he drove in a drunken condition. He admited his guilt and apologized. But he did not promise not to do it again so this time we can hope.

I think he deserves a harder punishment than the suspension of 3 months.

What do you think? Is Phelps treated right according to his behavior? Make up your mind and comment.

Cave House for Sale on Ebay

The Sleeper family are the one's that turned a cave into their home in Missouri. It has everything you can ask for considering the basics and even a party room found its place there.
Like many other of you the family suffers from the financial crunch during our recession and now put their home up for sale on ebay. The bidding starts at $300,000.
I didn't even know that you can sell your home on ebay! If I had the money I would consider to buy such a special house mainly because you don't need to pay for cooling or heating bills because the nature helps you out at that point. Which means, i don't only save money but also do my part for saving our environment.

This actually shows us: Be creative in times of an economic downturn (either move in such a house or sell your home on ebay to earn some money).

Tell us what you would sell on ebay and whether you can imagine to live in a cave house.

View slide show here.

OMG Rihanna!!!!!

Unauthorized Release of Photograph

Los Angeles: The unauthorized release of a domestic violence photograph immediately
generated an internal investigation.
At about 7 p.m. on February 19, 2009, the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations
Section began receiving numerous inquiries about the release of a photograph associated with a
domestic violence incident that occurred on February 8, 2009, involving entertainer Chris
Brown. The photograph appeared on an entertainment website. The photograph has the
appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation.
The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of
victims of domestic violence.
The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel
complaint.
A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including
termination.

Anyone with information concerning the unauthorized release of the photograph is asked to call,
during regular business hours, (213) 485-4152. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be
directed to our 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).

Wow I guess this can assure us that this is a real photo of Rihanna versus all the photo shopped ones that have been floating around the Internet.

Rihanna needs time to grieve, but I think she should possibly speak to the public, and her fans about the incident. It will answer a lot of rumors, and can be used as a PSA (public service announcement)to help battered women.

17 Year old boy sneaks into dance studio To JUMP WTF!

According to the New York times, a 17-year-old student at one of Manhattan's most elite private schools plunged to his death Wednesday in front of horrified children playing on the sidewalk, police said. The teenager's body landed on the pavement in front of The Dalton School on E. 89th St., according to police.

He appeared to have fallen from a window that was partially open on the school's 11th floor. The teenager has not been identified but investigators said he was a student at the exclusive school, which was founded in 1919.

Detectives believe the student snuck into an empty dance studio on the school's 11th floor, opened the top part of the window and jumped, police sources said. The school is in session this week and the body narrowly missed landing on several children who were playing on the sidewalk when the teen fell at 11:15 a.m., witnesses said.

Questionable Cartoon in New York Post

Take a look at this catoon and tell us whether you agree on Al Sharpton or not that this is racist or not against President Obama.

The cartoon picks up the latest news on the Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the shooting of Travis the chimpanzee. Al Sharpton does not like the comparison of African Americans with a monkey.

I think it should be left to anyones interpretation.
Make up your mind and build your own opinion! Comment what you think about this cartoon.

Energize your life!

Are African Americans getting the worse end of this Recession! Hell Ya WE ARE!

According to Black Voices, A report from the U.S. Department of Labor last week confirmed that Blacks are at the top of list of the most adversely affected, with an unemployment rate of 12.6%. The unemployment rate for Hispanics was 9.7% and the rate for whites was 6.9%.

The report also said adult men are losing jobs faster than women. The unemployment rate for adult men is 7.6% and the rate for adult women is 6.2%.

Older Americans are also among the hardest hit by unemployment. The labor department report said that the unemployment rate for workers over 55 years of age was a whopping 12.8%. The trend during this downturn has been for employers to lay off older workers who earn higher salaries in favor of younger workers that they can pay less. Also, since the baby boomers, who are approaching retirement, make up a very large portion of the workforce, they have suffered a larger share of the job cuts across all industries.

Another Finacial Firm Scaming People ! Where is it going to end? Hopefully with Standford Finacial Group! WTF

In the complaint, filed in Federal District Court in Dallas, the S.E.C. accused Mr. Stanford and two associates — James M. Davis, a director and chief financial officer of Stanford Group and the Antigua-based bank affiliate, and Laura Pendergest-Holt, the chief investment officer of both organizations — with misrepresenting the safety and liquidity of the uninsured C.D.’s.

The C.D.’s were sold by Stanford International Bank through the firm’s registered broker-dealer and investment adviser, which are in Houston. Both the bank, which claims $8.5 billion in assets and 30,000 clients in 131 countries, and the brokerage unit, which operates about 30 offices in the United States, were named in the S.E.C. suit. Stanford Financial asserts that it advises about $50 billion in assets.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Central time, about 40 police officers and other law enforcement officials simultaneously entered Stanford Group’s two office buildings in Houston. Many of the law enforcement personnel carried large black briefcases. Stanford group’s headquarters are in two offices in Houston, one within a tower of the Houston Galleria shopping mall, and the other across the street.

Chimp stabs woman with butcher knife and Steals a Police Car! WTF did they do to Bubbles!

According to Cnn, A Connecticut police officer shot and killed a pet chimpanzee that mauled a friend of its owner on Monday. The 200-pound chimp, Travis, who once starred in an Old Navy commercial for cargo shorts, had been running loose after using using a key to get out of the house.

I'm very sorry for the injuries" sustained by Travis' owner and her friend, said Emily Moulton in Gather. But isn't this the sort of tragedy we should expect when someone keeps a wild animal as a pet? "There's a good reason you can't go to your local pet store and buy your own Travis the chimp."

Travis was living the life of a human being, not a chimp, said Chris Rovzar in New York magazine. Travis' owners—Sandy Herold and her husband, Jerome—raised the 13-year-old chimp like a human member of the family after the death of their daughter a decade ago. The animal drank wine, and could log onto the Internet and use keys to get into the house and car. When you give a pet "skills and substances you wouldn't give a human child, doesn't that seem like a recipe for disaster?"

Bristol Palin said " teaching sexual abstinence to teenagers is not realistic at all." Naw I just think you got a little hot in Alaska Can you say Bop

According to the La Times, The Alaska governor's 18-year-old daughter expressed some startlingly unconservative views to her mom's good friend at Fox News, Greta Van Susteren, on her show Monday night.

She told Van Susteren that teaching sexual abstinence to teenagers is "not realistic at all."Bristol Palin said, "I hope people learn from my story. It's so much easier if you're married, have a house and career. It's not a situation you want to strive for."

She also denied that her mom’s anti-abortion stand was why she didn't terminate the unplanned pregnancy."It was my choice to have the baby," she said. "It doesn't matter what my mom's views are on it. It was my decision."

Hey just think if her mom didn't have all those hedge funds( Tax's payer money) she would be another UN wed, unemployed, welfare Mommy like octumom right! Presidents Ranking

C-Span today released a survey of American historians that ranks all the U.S. presidents in history based on merit/leadership. The winner seems to be consistent since the survey started in 2000: Abraham Lincoln!

Although I think it must be hard for the younger people to vote on them by the criteria leadership. Anyways, the worst leader of the USA this year iiiiiis...... James Buchanan.

To get a bit more knowledgeable one might need to look up facts about these important men to create an objective opinion.

Texas Fire Ball or UFO! Hell is it sign of You know What!

According to Cnn, — The fireball that blazed across the Texas sky and sparked numerous weekend calls to law enforcement agencies now can be considered an identified flying object.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday the fireball was a natural phenomenon — not flying space junk — and a North Texas astronomer said more specifically that it was probably a pickup truck-sized meteor with the consistency of concrete.

The object was visible Sunday morning from Austin to Dallas and into East Texas. In Central Texas, the Williamson County sheriff's office received so many emergency calls that it sent a helicopter aloft to look for debris from a plane crash. The FAA backed off its weekend claim that the fireball was caused by falling debris from colliding satellites plummeting into earth's atmosphere.

Calm down it not the Armageddon People just a truck-size piece of concrete! WTF

Beer tax going to hurt Beer Brewerys in Oregon and the sales of beer ?

According to Cnn.com, A Bill in the Oregon House proposes to raise the state Beer Tax by about 2000% House Bill 24-61 would raise the tax of a barrel of beer produced by state breweries from the current $2.50 to $52.00. Deschutes Brewery President Gary Fish says the Bill is nothing less than punitive and egregious. If passed, the price of a keg would increase by more than $40.00 and a six-pack would go up about $2.00. Damn homie this sucks especially since if you broke your going to want to drink right maybe its a new age prohibition act! never know

Republicans Act like Obama was the reason that were in debt! It's becuase of people like Mike Pence, R-Indiana: "This is not a good day for America."

According to Cnn.com , A 787-billion dollar economic stimulus bill is headed to President Barack Obama's desk. The plan won approval by both houses of congress Friday. Only three republicans supported the bill. Weighing in at some 11,000 pages and $787 billion dollars, the president's stimulus package is a done deal, but there are debates over whether it will work are not.

Mike Pence, R-Indiana: "This is not a good day for America."

The bill includes 500 billion dollars to create jobs from construction to renewable energy and 287 billion in tax cuts. Not a single republican voted for it in the house.

Only three republicans voted for it in the senate, despite the outrage of their colleagues. Mike Simpson, R-ID: "This process stinks."

Sen. Susan Collins, R-ME: "I think it is very dangerous for the republican party to just say no. That is not a good position for the party to take at a time when people are losing their jobs, the economy is in crisis and the future is so uncertain."

Now my two cents! this isn't going to happen over night! well i thnk if we would have thought about this war that isn't even a war, we would be having these problems! And the Republicans are acting as if Obama isn't working with them! When dealing with rich people with power its always a catch 22, because every time we think were working together we either get knifed for ideas or get slammed for what they wish they could have done. Yes it's true Regan said that Government isn't the answer but it is the problem and i think we have taken that sentence out of context a Lil! If the government was a straight and narrow as they think they are we would have to worry about if they paid taxes or Blagoivich i know i spelled it wrong1 But it don't matter. Stop talking about what ain't happening you millionaires and start asking what can we do to help! TO Be Continued

Valentine's Day during a downtturning economy

So today it's the day which most of the couples like or even love but especially long-time singles might hate.
Valentine's Day is actually one of the most lucrative days for the flower industry. But also the greeting card industry loves it because behind Christmas it's the largest card-sending holiday. I personally think either of them has invented that day to stimulate business.

But what do the people do if they have to fear for their job, are concerned about their debt or whatever the recession let the people worry about? They become creative! Long-stemmed roses are being replaced by homemade cards. Personal jewelry is being replaced by personal poems. And what goes along with that development is: searches for “cheap engagement rings”, “cheap lingerie,” “free Valentine’s Day cards” and “homemade Valentine’s Day gifts.” are “off the charts”!

I think that this behavior is energizing your pocket but not what this day is made for: Love! So please do not save the $3 for a rose because flowers put a smile in everyones face! You can loose a lot during this hard time but no one can take away love.
So please show ur love today and don't hold it back because of some bucks.

One good thing has this obsessed money saving: You become creative and maybe come up with more personal gifts than usually.

Here a the tribute from Linkin Park for today:

Relatives of Beverly Eckert, whose husband died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, say she was aboard the Buffalo, N.Y.-bound flight

According to CNN.com,Relatives of Beverly Eckert, whose husband died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, say she was aboard the Buffalo, N.Y.-bound flight when it crashed in Clarence Center, N.Y. Eckert was flying to Buffalo to honor what would have been her husband Sean Rooney's 58th birthday. She was scheduled to present a Canisius High School student with a scholarship created in his name.

After the 9/11 attacks, Eckert became a passionate voice for all the victims of the attacks on the World Trade Center. At the White House today President Obama singled out Eckert after expressing condolences for all the victims. "She was an inspiration to me and so many others," Obama said.

Last week, Eckert met Obama in the White House with other relatives of the victims of Sept. 11 and the bombing of the USS Cole to discuss the new administration's fight against terror.

Oniomaniac? What is? Where is it?

Oniomaniac is the new buzzword of the week. It has nothing to do with onions. An Oniomaniac is someone who has an uncontrollable desire to buy things. Apparently what this economy needs is citizens inflected with Oniomania.

From what CN can gather, an Oniomaniac is not a real diagnosable condition, though there certainly are less of them in this economic climate. What would actually be best for the economy?

With many businesses still struggling, we can’t seem to decide if we should be saving our money and paying off our debt or if we should turn into a bunch Oniomaniacs.

The word comes from the Greek onios = “for sale,” and mania = insanity. It’s also the name of a blog. The Oniomaniac is a blogger name whose counter says they have received 14,000 + visitors, So why is Oniomaniac the number one searched item on google trends this afternoon.

Here one of My Favorite items to Take on a Valentines Getaway

USA VS. MEXICO!

World Cup qualifying in North America is hot and chaotic, driven by passionate fans, seared in the heat and hostility of Central American caldrons.
U.S. men's national coach Bob Bradley is cool and calm, driven by a focus on the task at hand, not easily distracted.

His team doesn't have the flamboyance of past U.S. squads, which had dominant personalities such as Alexi Lalas and the pointed wit of coach Bruce Arena. But as Bradley's team starts a 10-game quest to earn a sixth consecutive World Cup berth, it's prepared to deal with high emotions and high expectations.

The tone starts with Bradley, a Princeton graduate who served as Arena's assistant at several levels of the sport. He chooses his words carefully, never creating a media frenzy and keeping outside distractions at arm's length.

Stimulus Helped Stocks Close on A Better Note Today!

According to Us today.com, Investors shuttled between optimism and pessimism Wednesday, finally betting that the government might help the economy out of recession after all.

News in late afternoon that key lawmakers agreed on a $789 billion economic stimulus plan sent stocks moderately higher. The advance, which came in a back-and-forth session, came a day after stocks plunged on worries about the government's financial industry bailout plan.

The stimulus measure includes provisions for unemployment benefits, food stamps, health coverage and more. It also includes billions for states facing yawning budget gaps.

Investors have been eager for any signals that the economy could begin to recover. Supporters hope the bill's mix of spending and tax cuts will increase consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of U.S. economic activity. Spending has stalled since the mid-September bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. froze credit markets and deepened the recession.

Washington was again the driver behind the market's moves on Wednesday. A day earlier, investors showed frustration with what they saw as a lack of details from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on how the government plans to direct trillions of dollars in public and private aid to support the ailing financial system. Major stock market indexes tumbled more than 4 percent.

Selma Hayek Breast Feeding and African Infant on Video!

According to UK today, Hayek had been weaning her one-year-old daughter Valentina but still had milk left inside, prompting her to breastfeed the boy. Hayek worried about betraying her own daughter by feeding the stranger's child but felt her daughter would understand.

Hayek drew inspiration from her own great-grandmother, who in the past had breastfed a baby whose mother no longer had milk. Hayek said "It was amazing (to breastfeed another child) because I was really impressed by (my great-grandmother's) story."

Selma Hayek Breast feeding a African infant! Whoa! I'm sure when they asked for food that wasn't their first choice but when your poor what can you do! I don't think it's a huge deal however it's still kinda weird right? your a millionaire and your feeding children literally wow! tell me what you think

Is it Really Possible to DRY DROWN! YES, A ten yr. old boy did in South Carolina

Recent media reports concerning a 10-year-old boy from Goose Creek, S.C., who died several hours after being in a swimming pool have left many parents concerned about the risks of dry drowning and wondering how they can best protect their children from this health threat.

What is dry drowning?
According to Web MD, Dry drowning is basically drowning without water. With dry drowning, you are not drowning from an immediate immersion in water; it is more of a delayed effect of a small amount of water in the lungs. This can result in laryngospasms, which minimize the amount of water aspirated into the lungs. Respiratory arrest may follow, leading to an inadequate supply of oxygen in the blood, cardiac arrest, and eventually brain death.

Is dry drowning rare?
According to Web MD, Drowning is a huge problem. About 4,000 people drown each year and 1,400 of these are children. The CDC has no statistics on the number of dry drowning deaths.

California Ordered to Release thousands of prisoners due to over Budgets! WTF

According to CNN, A federal judicial panel heard closing arguments Tuesday in a long-running legal battle over crowding in California prisons, a case that will have far-reaching consequences for the state's corrections system, its budget and public safety.
At issue are cases stretching back more than two decades that claim overcrowding is the cause of poor medical and mental health treatment. Courts already have found the care so poor that it violates inmates' constitutional rights. Inmates' attorneys argued Tuesday that releasing tens of thousands of prisoners is the answer. "The entire system is collapsing because of the overcrowding," Don Specter, director of the nonprofit Prison Law Office, told the three-judge panel in U.S. District Court.
If the panel agrees, it could order the population cut by one-third in California's 33 adult prisons.

That would lead to the early release of some 52,000 inmates.
Closing arguments are expected to last through Wednesday. Afterward, the judicial panel must decide whether overcrowding is indeed the cause of the poor medical and mental health care. If that is the finding, the judges then must determine whether to release inmates early and how such a release order would be implemented. Public safety also will factor into their decision.

Google and Microsoft Pairing Up for Venture!

According to cnnmoney.com, Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) touted an agreement on Monday to license its mobile software to rival Google Inc. (GOOG), a move that highlights the increasing ability of large technology companies to use intellectual property for more than simply developing products for their own customers.

Google is using Microsoft's ActiveSync technology in its Google Sync service, which lets users automatically update calendar and contact information on mobile devices. Google unveiled Google Sync on Monday, calling it "a particularly handy improvement for people who regularly use Google tools."

Microsoft's vice president of intellectual property and licensing, Horacio Gutierrez, said in a statement that the Google license is "a great example of Microsoft's openness to generally license our patents under fair and reasonable terms so long as licensees respect Microsoft intellectual property."

The software giant has made more than 500 licensing agreements for its intellectual property in the last five years, according to Gutierrez.

Is A Porn Star Named Stormy Going to Become a Senate Memeber?!?

According to Cnn,Fans of porn star Stormy Daniels are drafting her to run for the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana now held by Republican Sen. David Vitter. And it's no racy gimmick, they say The Senetor Vitter who is famous -- or infamous -- for his link to the "D.C. Madam," the woman who ran a prostitution ring.

Elected to the Senate in 2004, he admitted to "a very serious sin in my past" in July 2007 after his phone number turned up in records of an escort service run by the late Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the D.C. Madam. Running for re-election, Vitter said his wife has forgiven him and is banking on the same sentiment from his constituents. Will the Draft Stormy move mean stormy weather for Vitter?

The senator's office didn't return calls by CNN. But a spokesman for the state GOP said voters "are concerned with real issues that affect their everyday lives and not with political or publicity stunts." The Draft Stormy campaign was started by New Orleans resident and Daniels fan Zack Hudson, who insists it's for real.

Chris Brown Mugspots and Arrest Video! And Rihanna is Rumored to have Given Chris Brown Herpes!

Chris Brown Arrested: What About Rihanna?Investigators are staying mum about whether the woman involved in the case was Rihanna. Rihanna did cancel her performance and appearance at Sunday’s Grammy’s show, as did Brown. Rihanna was scheduled to open the awards ceremony. Both Rihanna and Brown were reportedly at a pre-Grammy party in Beverly Hills.

TMZ VIDEO!

Media reports have confirmed what we reported earlier: that Chris Brown did indeed beat Rihanna, but it’s the reason that’s even more bizarre.

According toallegedly close to Brown allege that the fight leading to the domestic violence incident occurred because Rihanna gave Chris Brown herpes. And how did Rihanna end up with an STD to begin with? Claims are that she picked it up from Jay-Z!

Brown would have found out about the Herpes due to the symptoms: the signs of infection typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal.

While disturbing if true, it doesn’t excuse the beating Brown gave Rihanna under any circumstances

ANTI-AMERICANS PUSH FOR NO Stimulus BILL!

According to The USA Today.com, The advocacy organization Americans for Prosperity released on Feb. 5 a letter addressed to the U.S. Senate. The group urges a vote against the bill aimed at stimulating the economy, which is due for a vote in the Senate Tuesday:

"On behalf of the members of Americans for Prosperity, I am writing to urge you to vote against the so-called American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Congress should not enact an expensive spending bill under the pretense of stimulus or recovery."

The letter continues, "No matter which amendments pass, the fundamental approach of dramatically increasing federal debt and spending is a mistake. We therefore urge you to vote NO and will rate a vote against the so-called stimulus as a Key Vote for Prosperity in our Congressional ratings."

The group stands resolutely against many mainstream economists who point out that the economic sectors that traditionally drive growth and job creation -- consumer spending, export markets, manufacturer investments, and new technological innovation -- have all collapsed. In such times, the economists argue, it's necessary to use extraordinary governmental measures to make up for the estimated $2.9 trillion gap in the private economy over the next three years. Otherwise, economists such as Nobel prize winner Paul Krugman predict, the U.S. could enter a long period of deflationary doldrums like Japan endured for a decade.

Whats Wrong With Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift!

According to E! online, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift are friends—they came as each other's dates to the Grammys—and duet partners with tonight's performance of "Fifteen," a track from Taylor's most recent album, Fearless.

But for our purposes, they're also fashion frenemies, waltzing down the red carpet in let's-keep-the-peace matching outfits. We're guessing there was a coin toss to decide who got to wear the plunging Kaufman Franco neckline and who would wear the asymmetrical Max Azria frock.

So which girl do you think got lucky with the better black dress? Play our Red Carpet Pose-Off Game pitting Miley vs. Taylor, plus plenty of showdowns between more of your favorite fashionistas, and you could even win a fabulous prize.

A Lovely Lady Josephine Baker!

Accoeding to Spare Times, It’s called a good book, and Nora Ephron had the good sense to choose one — “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” — as the basis of a play that she wrote with her sister, Delia. “It was an amazing book, because it’s got this completely interactive quotient,” Ms. Ephron said of the memoir, in which Ilene Beckerman recounts her life story according to the outfits she wore. “You read about her life, and whether or not it’s like yours, you start thinking about your life and your clothes and what you were wearing when whatever horrible thing happened to you.”

The Ephrons set about soliciting their friends’ memories to supplement those in the book, creating a funny, compelling work that the theater producer Daryl Roth has ushered into her DR2 Theater to benefit — appropriately — Dress for Success, a nonprofit group that provides clothing and career development for disadvantaged women. Each week the five roles are filled by a rotating cast that most producers would kill for: on Monday the stars include, above from left, Debi Mazar, Rosie O’Donnell and the comedian Casey Wilson, and in the coming weeks Blythe Danner, America Ferrera and Parker Posey are among the boldface names.

Wild Fires Consume Australia, 108 killed

According to the Associated Press, Entire towns have been seared off the map by wildfires raging through southeastern Australia, burning people in their homes and cars in the deadliest blaze in the country's history. The number of dead Monday stood at 108, a grim toll that rose almost by the hour as officials reached further into the fire zone.

Searing temperatures and wind blasts created a firestorm that swept across a swath of the country's Victoria state, where at least 700 homes were destroyed and all of the victims died. More victims were expected to be found, officials said.

"Hell in all its fury has visited the good people of Victoria," Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said. "It's an appalling tragedy for the nation."
The skies rained ash and trees exploded in the inferno, witnesses said, as temperatures of up 117 F (47 C) combined with blasting winds to create furnace-like conditions.

The town of Marysville and several hamlets in the Kinglake district, both about 50 miles (100 kilometers) north of Melbourne, were utterly devastated.
At Marysville, a winter tourism town that was home to about 800 people, up to 90 percent of buildings were in ruins, witnesses said. Police said two people died there.

ARTIST WHO Created THE OBAMA Poster in Jail For ART or VANDALISM? YOU TELL ME!

According to the Associated Press, Shepard Fairey was arrested Friday night on his way to the Institute of Contemporary Art for a kickoff event for his first solo exhibition, called "Supply and Demand." Two warrants were issued for Fairey on Jan. 24 after police determined he'd tagged property in two locations with graffiti based on the Andre the Giant street art campaign from his early career, Officer James Kenneally said. One of the locations was the railroad trestle by the landmark Boston University bridge over the Charles River, police said.

Fairey, 38, of Los Angeles, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Brighton District Court, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney. Wark said Fairey would also be arraigned on a default warrant related to a separate graffiti case in the Roxbury section of Boston.

Fairey has spent the last two weeks in the Boston area installing the ICA exhibit and creating outdoor art, including a 20-by-50 foot banner on the side of City Hall, according to a statement issued Saturday by the museum.
The museum said Fairey was released a few hours after his arrest. Boston police confirmed Fairey had been released, but did not know exactly when or the amount of his bail. A man who answered the phone at Fairey's Los Angeles studio, Studio One, declined comment.

The Pro Bowl will Be TELEVISED!

According to the Associated Press, The NFL has lifted the local TV blackout for Sunday's Pro Bowl, with the all-star game close to being sold out for the 30th straight year.

The league had granted two extensions before lifting the blackout for Hawaii. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy says only a few hundred tickets remained as of Saturday.

The Pro Bowl has sold out, usually weeks in advance, every year since moving to the 50,000-seat Aloha Stadium in 1980. It will be televised on NBC.

There has been only one blackout in the history of the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. The 1982 game, which was the year of the players' strike, was blacked out locally, although it was sold out by kickoff.

Mission to Moscow To KEEP the War Going? Obama What's going on?

According to the Associated Press, The White House said Thursday it would work with the government of Kyrgyzstan to "remedy" its decision to close a US air base which has been "vital" in the war in Afghanistan. The decision by the Central Asian state could prove a problem for the administration of President Barack Obama as the base was likely set to play a key role in his plans to boost US troop numbers in the Afghan war.

"We've seen the reports and I believe we've been in consultation with leaders there," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters."Obviously, Kyrgyzstan has provided an important air base in Manas that has been vital to our efforts and coalition efforts in Afghanistan and we look forward to working with them to remedy that situation," Gibbs said, referring to the closure plans.

Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev first announced the closure of the base in Moscow, fueling speculation the decision came under pressure from Russia, which has been irritated by the US presence in ex-Soviet territory.

The announcement was made with Dmitry Medvedev by his side, minutes after Russia granted Kyrgyzstan a loan of two billion dollars. But Russia has denied having influenced the Kyrgyz government.

USS Port Royal Coming Back! Navy waits till high tide

The Navy hopes a high tide due to reach Hawaii early Saturday will enable it to refloat a 9,600-ton warship that ran aground about a half mile off seaside Honolulu International Airport.

An initial effort by Navy tugs early Friday to free the guided missile cruiser USS Port Royal was unsuccessful. The $1 billion ship ran aground Thursday night while carrying guests that included a rear admiral.

"We're certainly working on bringing to bear the resources we have to move her off the current position. We're still putting that plan together," said Capt. W. Scott Gureck, a spokesman for U.S. Pacific Fleet. "Obviously, the high tide gives us an opportunity to do that."

Divers and the salvage ship USS Salvor would try to tow the 567-foot vessel, the Navy said.

The cause of the grounding on the sandy bottom and the extent of damage to the vessel were under investigation.

"I'm not going to speculate on what happened," Gureck said.

The Port Royal left Pearl Harbor on Thursday for sea trials after being dry-docked for routine maintenance. The ship ran aground while shore-based officials were being transferred to shore by small boat, the Navy said.

An oil recovery vessel, the Clean Islands, was positioned behind the warship as a precaution as the U.S. Coast Guard monitored the situation

Ice Floe Killed one person other Stranded

Acording to Fox news, One person is dead, more than 150 have been rescued and others remain stranded on an ice floe about eight miles wide that broke free from the northern Ohio shoreline near Toledo and began floating into Lake Erie.

The Coast Guard reported that several ships and helicopters from Toledo and Marblehead, Ohio, were attempting to rescue the fishermen stranded on the ice flow, with early estimates of up to 500 people in danger.

Local authorities later estimated the number of fishermen still stranded to be from 175 to 300.

One person fell through the ice and emergency crews performed CPR before taking him to Firelands Regional Medical Center. It wasn't immediately clear if that was the person that the Coast Guard said had died. ミュージックフェア

What was AROD Juiced On?

According to NJ.com, One of the two anabolic steroids that Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez tested positive for while with the Texas Rangers in 2003 -- Primobolan -- is a commonly used one.

The drug is what is known as a dihydrotestosterone-based anabolic steroid (or DHT). According to the website, Steroid.com, Primobolan is a fairly weak steroid when used on its own. It does, however, "improve strength and build lean muscle, with minimal bulk development" according to the SI article.

Because of this, most people who use Primobolan, use it during what is known as "Cutting Cycles," where the goal is not to increase mass.

However, according to the drugs profile at BuyPrimobolan.com, combining "Primo" with a bulking-up drug like testosterone (which the Sports Illustrated report says that Rodriguez also failed his '03 drug test for) it generally is to "lower the overall androgen dosage and minimize uncomfortable side effects."

Alex Rodriguez Tested Positive For Steroids! ALL DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!

According to CNN, In 2003, when he won the American League home run title and the AL Most Valuable Player award as a shortstop for the Texas Rangers, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids, four sources have independently told Sports Illustrated.

Rodriguez's name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball's '03 survey testing, SI's sources say. As part of a joint agreement with the MLB Players Association, the testing was conducted to determine if it was necessary to impose mandatory random drug testing across the major leagues in 2004.

When approached by an SI reporter on Thursday at a gym in Miami, Rodriguez declined to discuss his 2003 test results. "You'll have to talk to the union," said Rodriguez, the Yankees' third baseman since his trade to New York in February 2004. When asked if there was an explanation for his positive test, he said, "I'm not saying anything."

pushed back twice: Youth in Revolt

Has anyone heard of this movie or novel? (Youth In Revolt)
Well first of all, the novel was first (of course) and is written by C.D. Payne.

It is about a boy called Nick (played by Michael Cera) who is actually pretty young to be sex obsessed but he his. So the whole story is about how he finds his dream girl and wants her to take his virginity. Ok. Sounds like a funny story that seems to deal with puberty.

So why got the release date of the movie delayed again? The book was successful and the cast is filled with fresh teens.

Personally, I think, since the book is already published, meaning that the content is available for everyone, it can't be censorship. There hasn't been a trailer or any marketing activity so that could be one reason. Although this push-back might be a cheap promotion in itself.

I will leave it up to you- What do you think why this movie got rescheduled again? And do you wanna see it therefore as bad as I do?

Maybe this video tells us more:)

BOB MARLEY'

The reggae giant would be 64 today. Every once in a while, a musician comes along that captures the hearts and imaginations of the world. Bob Marley in one of those musicians who is timeless in his inspiration, and as popular today as he was 30 years ago. He may be one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.

Robert Nesta Marley is an international ambassador for reggae music, Jamaica, and Rastafarianism. He was born today, February 6, 1945.

Though he has been gone from our world for 28 years, his legacy lives on, impacting people of all ages and cultures. His message of love, peace, and unity resonates through the world, and he is still one of music's most famous and beloved figures. Marley wrote songs that appealed to wide audiences, with universal messages about love, unity, and freedom.

Bob Marley is still the world's highest-selling reggae artist, with countless hits, and the posthumous compilation album "Legend" has sold over 20 million copies.

Born in the small village of Nine Mile in the Jamaican countryside, Bob never knew his father, a white British Naval officer. He married Rita Anderson in 1966, and for the rest of his life, Rita was his partner, and as member of the backing singer "I Threes" that were part of the Bob Marley & The Wailers band. Bob fathered 11 children with different women, and Rita raised all of them as her own.

What Happening in Africa with the African Union.

According to the African Press, The African Union (AU) Commission on Friday urged the coup leaders in Mauritania to cooperate with the commission in returning to constitutional order in that country. The call was made after the AU Peace and Security Council convened late on Thursday a meeting on the situation in that country, which is still under military rule since last August.

Mauritania and Guinea, the two states under coup leaders were on the agenda of this week’s summit in Addis Ababa where African leaders condemned the coups in the two countries. The AU suspended the two countries from the AU until a constitutional order was returned in those two countries.

After convening the PSC meeting, the council asked the commission to take the necessary steps for the effective implementation of the sanctions and to report regularly to it and requested all member states to scrupulously implement this decision.

The council further urged the authorities borne out of the coup to extend their full cooperation to the AU Commission with a view to bringing an immediate return to constitutional order and the quick resolution of the political crisis in the country.

Coburn amendment huh??

Majority Leader Harry Reid , D-Nev., offered a reduction to $780 billion, not including spending added to the bill in the Senate, according to a Democratic aide.

The Democratic leadership called the meeting in a Capitol building room to sell the new proposal to the broader caucus. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was seen walking into the room. The legislation is the Obama administration’s top short-term priority.

Ben Nelson , D-Neb., and Collins had been leading the effort to salvage the bill (HR 1), with the hopes of possibly passing it Friday. The goal is to have 60 votes for the legislation to ward off procedural challenges.

Kent Conrad , D-N.D., hesitated to call the proposal a full-blown “agreement,” but said it had been “sufficiently fleshed out” to the point where Democrats “can have a caucus and discuss it.”

The contents of the proposal could change again, Conrad said, but he added that it was still possible to have a vote on final passage Friday night.

The prospects of a deal have seemed to seesaw throughout the day. Friday morning, Reid said he expected negotiations would produce something that could be voted on by the end of the day.

“This is a critical day for our country and this Congress,” he said.

But by mid-afternoon Collins emerged from a meeting with Reid and said she was just beginning to review an offer from the Democratic leader.

Asked how she felt, Collins said, “not as good as I felt earlier.”

Collins and Nelson have been trying to trim as much as $100 billion in spending from the bill, but they have had difficulty getting Republicans and Democrats to agree on which programs to cut.

Beyond that, every spending cut is likely to cause heartburn among liberals. Sen. Dianne Feinstein , D-Calif., raised the possibility she will vote against the bill if she thinks it would not create enough jobs. Feinstein was cosponsor of an amendment to boost infrastructure spending in the plan by $25 billion, which was blocked Tuesday.

Snowe, announced that she was working with leadership on making changes to the tax portion of the bill that could cut tens of billions of dollars from the bottom line.

One option on the table would trim the net-operating loss carryback provision, according to a Senate aide. As currently written, the bill would allow companies to apply current losses to up to five prior years of taxes paid and claim immediate refunds, up from two years in current law.

Nelson said Reid presented the negotiators with a proposal of cuts drawn up by the Appropriations Committee as a counter to the list he and Collins have been working on. He declined to say the size of the cut being proposed by the Appropriations Committee, but in a news release Snowe said leaders have told her it is $63 billion. Nelson said the final plan would cost less than $800 billion.

ABOUT DAMN TIME! WELLS FARGO CANCELS TRIP TO WYNN IN VEGAS AFTER MEDIA REPORT!

Wells Fargo & Co. has canceled plans to fly members of its mortgage unit to Las Vegas for a pricey 12-day stay following criticism from Capitol Hill that costly celebrations were inappropriate given that the bank has taken a federal cash infusion of $25 billion.

Legislators were reacting to an Associated Press report that described the event, which was to have begun Friday, as a lavish annual junket that had, in the past, treated more than 1,000 employees and guests to all-expenses paid stays at top hotels.

"They're tone deaf. It's outrageous," said U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., who sits on the House Financial Services Committee.

In a statement issued Tuesday evening, Wells called the AP story "misleading" because the company already had scaled back the meeting in comparison to past gatherings, and canceled most of what it called "recognition events" for its executives this year. "In light of the current environment, we have now decided to cancel this event as well," Wells said.

Lawmakers and regulators have criticized financial companies for perks and bonuses offered to employees since the U.S. government's $700 billion rescue plan was announced in October. Some companies have cut back.

PAPA Johns Telling People NOT TO EAT TOO MUCH PIZZA?!? Wow isn't that bad for business, but not for the Heart?

According to CNN.com, the founder of one of America's largest pizza chains has offered unexpected advice to his customers to limit themselves to only one or two slices.Pizza is not normally known for its health benefits; thick, cheesy toppings push up the calorie count.

During an interview on BBC's Radio Four program in the United Kingdom, John Schnatter, said, "you can't eat five or six slices."

He was responding to a question from presenter Adam Shaw about whether he was concerned about the impact of the British government's anti-obesity drive on pizza sales."No. Pizza's actually healthy for you if you don't eat too much of it," Schnatter replied, adding, "You can't eat five or six slices but if you eat one or two slices it's very nutritious."

The pizza chain boss had just finished telling BBC listeners that the UK market was a "huge priority for Papa John's International."The company has 118 outlets in the United Kingdom, its second biggest market outside the U.S. after China.

Sales in the UK jumped 60% on Monday alone after heavy snowfalls were estimated to have encouraged around one in five workers to stay at home.Schnatter is in the United Kingdom for the annual franchisee conference, a marketing tool to encourage more small business owners to buy into the Papa John's brand.

You Go Girl, Pat Summit Wins 1000!

According to NYTIMES.com, Twenty-two years ago there was a debate on this campus among university officials about whether Tennessee’s women’s basketball team should move with the men’s program to the new 24,000-seat Thompson-Boling Arena or stay in the quaint Stokely Center a block.
Would there have to be tarps to cover the upper deck so the place would not look so empty when the women played? Would there be more echoes than cheers with crowds that might number no more than 3,000?

On Thursday night, there were no echoes, just cheers, and the debate about the program’s popularity has been left far behind thanks to the tall, slender woman on the Tennessee Lady Vols’ sideline.

Pat Summitt, the women’s basketball coach, won her 1,000th game, which many feel is a milestone that will not be reached by another college basketball coach. The chant “One thousand” from the crowd of 16,058 started with 40 seconds to play. When the horn sounded in a 73-43 win over Georgia, orange and white streamers fell from the ceiling, and the throng roared again.
