Oniomaniac is the new buzzword of the week. It has nothing to do with onions. An Oniomaniac is someone who has an uncontrollable desire to buy things. Apparently what this economy needs is citizens inflected with Oniomania.
From what CN can gather, an Oniomaniac is not a real diagnosable condition, though there certainly are less of them in this economic climate. What would actually be best for the economy?
With many businesses still struggling, we can’t seem to decide if we should be saving our money and paying off our debt or if we should turn into a bunch Oniomaniacs.
The word comes from the Greek onios = “for sale,” and mania = insanity. It’s also the name of a blog. The Oniomaniac is a blogger name whose counter says they have received 14,000 + visitors, So why is Oniomaniac the number one searched item on google trends this afternoon.
